Has there been any thought into creating other Ivalice races as PC playable races? Yes, the ones that were generally available within the games have been done, but the Baknamy, Garif and Revgaji haven't been touched yet.
Yes, the Baknamy were classified as "monsters", but they are certainly intelligent enough to cloth themselves, create gas masks and you could technically recruit one in the Tactics games. It isn't like they are a hive-mind or something and there are ones that can speak and trade, so there isn't any reason to think one can't be a PC.
The Garif's role in Final Fantasy 12 was small and they were not seen in the Tactics games at all, but they are technically a race in Ivalice and perhaps could work as PCs. Granted, the PC would probably have to cast off some of the races' tenancies towards total nonaggression, peaceful living and abhorrence of technology to work, but I certainly could imagine one as a PC.
And, finally, the Revgaji... well, these ones have been adventurers and merchants, though it would be fair to say that next to nothing is known about them. In fact, beyond being brown skinned with long ears and little horns on their heads, they weren't portrayed in any particularly distinct or memorable way-- in fact, there are no typical ones, they are only named characters. Still, although this may be a rare race, it should be noted as a distinct race available to PCs, I think.
