Red Mage + Materia

[What's in the box?]

If a Red Mage can use Arcane Pool to enhance the bonus of their weapon could they use that new bonus to access the higher level powers of material?

Essentially making their +1 sword a +3 (at level 6) in order to access the level two power of Materia? (provided that the material already has that experience).

Also would this allow higher level material to obtain MXP?

I think Materia can gain MXP no matter what weapon or armor they're slotted in... they just function at lower levels (Level 3 materia would function as level 1 in a +1 weapon, but could still be mastered).

I asked the same question to Vil in a game he was running, to which he said no- so barring a change of heart that's likely the ruling. Temporary Enhancement Bonuses do not count towards what level materia can function at.
