Trance

Trance

Trance is induced a by a surge of emotions transforming a character into a more powerful form. Trance can be invoked at a cost of 1 Hero Point, and A Limit Break use simultaneously and must be able to Limit Break at the given time.

Trance Grants the following:
For 1 round+ 1 round per four character levels, the character in trance is granted an attack and damage roll bonus equal to their character level and at a loss of -2 to AC. During this time they gain a bonus equal to half their level on Will/Fort saves versus charm, compulsion, fear and death effects. Trances finally induces the ability to Limit Break at any time, no matter their HP threshold or uses left but still counts towards their uses. However Limit Breaking can possibly cause the Trance to break after use. The first limit break use invokes a 10% chance to break. Every other Limit break thereafter is cumulative 20% chance higher, and a 5% higher for each round sustained in trance. Characters whose trance ends or breaks, are exhausted for rounds equal to the time spent in trance.

Characters who have the emotionless trait are unable to trance.

When a character trances, their true being shows, granting them an aura like color that covers their form.
The following is the color of the characters aura described during trance.
Lawful: White
Neutral: Grey
Chaotic: Black
Good: Blue
Evil: Red.
These colors are combined, For EX: A Chaotic Good character in trance would be surrounded by a Black and Blue aura. This doesn’t affect anything mechanically just flavor.

If you do not use hero points in your game, Two Limit Break uses would suffice for the cost of trance, or at your own discretion.

This alternatively can be used to replace Limit Breaks by using Limits breaks only through trance. This way I’d say they gain Trances uses equal to their limit break uses per day instead of limit break uses per day and keep it at 50% threshold to trance.
Another Alternative flavor way it to have the character take the form of their deity within their trance state. This form is up to gm how it looks, as all worlds are differnt.

ANOTHER alternative way to induce trance, is a reward to players for good role-play, is your players reacting as characters to the bad guy killing off the mayor? Are they pissed? Well good day, they trance. I usually involve a will save of a sort with it, but in the end its all to gm discretion.

how well known is this color scheme of alignment?

I ask because if you have an NPC who has successfully infiltrated the group and Trance's during combat in order to 'save' them from -whatever- but they are all White and Red (lol, Pink is Devil alignment... adorable) then the party would know this person is evil.

Alternatively if the PCs infiltrate a Kefkanite cult and someone Trances to be all Grey and Blue (the Dallas Cowboys are NG? hmmm...) then the cult knows to stab them... Sad Which is sad.

This is true. The point being "their true being" Id say alternatively, someone would perform a will save to suppress trance if they didnt want to. If your going by the gm rewards the trance randomly rule this would be the only problem as otherwise, you have to spend a hero point/Lb use for it.

How known is it would probably be just a INT check or depends on the world. Or No one could just not known the phenomena of the aura at all. Its really all up there how the gm wants Trance to effect in his world.
