Unarmed Fighter
#1
Something just occurred to me. A Fighter specialising in unarmed combat (with Chosen Weapon: Unarmed Combat) would get a +1 to hit and damage at lv1, but would cause attacks of opportunity whenever attacking unarmed until he reached lv2 and could get Martial Arts Training, right?

Would you guys feel it'd be ok to 'invert' the first Fighter Talent and Chosen Weapon, to get Martial arts Training at lv1 and Chosen Weapon at lv2 if a player wishes to (meaning the character would gain no extra atk/dmg at lv1, but could attack with his hands without causing AoO)?

On a similar note: how would you say the abilities which reference "Melee Weapon" (as in, "whenever you have a melee weapon in hand" or "whenever making an attack with a Melee Weapon") interact with Unarmed Attacks? Would you count Unarmed Attacks as a "Melee Weapon" for those effects, or would you rather restrict these effects to actual weapons?

I do know the Monk is the main class devoted to Unarmed Fighting, but with the great Feat Potential of Fighters, I can't help but think of them as possible alternatives for Martial Artists Smile

Thanks in advance for the tips!

Unarmed Strike can be used in place of melee weapon.
