Fabula Nova Crystallis deities - Manly Man - 12-03-2018 Etro Chaotic Good goddess of death, time, and chaos. Born of a now-dead universe, Etro is one of three surviving deities who withstood the ordeal of the death of their home dimension and the birth of the current one. She, alongside her elder brother Pulse and younger sister Lindzei, has wandered the- relatively speaking, of course- infantile cosmos in search of a new place to call home; though they were all truly mighty divinities before, they have found that this latest universe does not suit their powers well, and so have been found wanting when attempting to create a new world from scratch. Thusly, they look for another world unto which they will offer their blessings in return for sanctuary and solace, and currently find themselves drawn to the world of Aeon Gaia. Etro's role between the three of them is to regulate the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth that all mortals follow, stem the flow of the primordial chaos as it attempts to seep into the current world, and repair the damage that the chaos inflicts upon the fabric of space-time. Like her siblings, Etro's form is largely humanoid, but otherwise quite alien, appearing to be some kind of massive god-machine in the general shape of a woman. Though she is hardly ever seen in person, it is said that her clergy, the Seeresses, all bear some resemblance to her. Her highest-ranking cleric is the Oracle of Etro, Paddra Nsu-Yeul, who supposedly looks exactly like the death goddess, were she to be born of mortal flesh. Etro loves all mortals, whether they worship her, scorn her, or are largely ignorant of her, and does her best to care for them. Her own following is somewhat small, but incredibly devoted: an entire holy city that follows the guidance of Seeress Yeul, who leads the people through visions granted to her by what of Etro's power courses in her veins. Titles: Mistress of Chaos, Lady of Death, Queen of Nothing (said only by those who see her position as a death goddess in a negative light) Home Plane: Astral (currently) Power Level: Lesser Alignment: Chaotic Good Portfolio: Balance, Birth, Death, Primordial Chaos, Rebirth, Time. Domains: Chaos, Darkness, Death, Destruction, Good, Healing, Repose, Time, Void. Favored Weapon: Bows (longbows, shortbows, and greatbows). Pulse
True neutral god of life, strength, and nature.
As are his sisters Etro and Lindzei, Pulse is one of three surviving eldritch deities that hail from a destroyed universe, and travels the cosmos with his siblings on a quest to find a new home to settle into and mortals to watch over. Though his powers as a god of creation have shrunk considerably, he still possesses considerable might, and exercises his power over the mortals who follow him. He has a very Darwinist outlook on life, that the strong are to survive while the weak fall prey to them, and enforces that wherever he goes; blessing those who display strength and courage is almost something of a pastime to this god, and he has shaped many native creatures into new races all their own. His lack of sympathy for the weak earns him a reputation as a cold-hearted, borderline tyrant to those who do not worship him, however, apparently seeing mortals as mere playthings.
Though he does not often present himself in person, Pulse is a magnificent sight to behold when he does. He looks like a titanic mix of machine and man, standing several men high and covered in various plates and chains. Those who he brands as l'Cie often speak of the mix of awe and terror they feel upon seeing him, the power that channels through his touch to unlock their abilities and leave his mark doing little to help matters.
Worshipers of Pulse do so out of thanks, believing their continued existence is, in at least some small part, because Pulse is glad to see them living and trying their best to thrive. Indeed, although he is not solely responsible for their lives, Pulse is fond of giving rewards to communities or even entire races that he feels have worked and striven hard enough to deserve them. Truly remarkable individuals can even be given the greatest of rewards personally, after which he leaves the individual to do as they will with their newfound power. Those who reject or scorn Pulse are seen by his devoted as lazy, thankless, and entitled creatures who have no idea what they could achieve if they were simply willing to put forth the effort.

RE: Fabula Nova Crystallis deities - Manly Man - 12-06-2018 Update: Pulse is finished, will get Lindzei done soon. I don't think I'll make their father, Bhunivelze (who is, for lack of a better term, dead) or their grandmother, Mwynn (who perished with the previous universe), but if y'all want some fluff, then sure. |
