Gunblade Specialists & firearms - theholymoo - 12-08-2013 Should they start with a gunblade as they costs way over starting gil? also does FFd20 use the pathfinder rules for firearms being touch attacks? Yeah, probably should say they start with one. And yes, touch for the first 5 increments. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - theholymoo - 12-08-2013 wait, first 5 increments? its only 1 increment in pathfinder. Is the first 5 increments a unique rule to ffd20 (12-08-2013, 01:39 PM)theholymoo Wrote: wait, first 5 increments? its only 1 increment in pathfinder. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - theholymoo - 12-09-2013 Right. ADVANCED firearms... not used to those, usually play with the early firearms if any. Very good then, my bad. I kinda hate the firearms rules, been working on a homebrew system to make firearms only ignore armor thats hardness is lower than the firearms ammunition hardness with a boost determined by the type of firearm, higher fire power and such. Ever seen what happens to fullplate when hit with a musket round or a shot from a blunderbuss? There's a reason knights stopped being a thing. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - Nihilarian - 12-10-2013 I don't particularly care whether or not firearms hit touch AC. Allow me to remind you, however, in the first fight of Final Fantasy 7, a man toothpick arms beats two guntoting soldiers to death with a slab of concrete he jokingly refers to as a "Buster Sword". Do not search for realism in a Final Fantasy game. Down that path lies madness. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - theholymoo - 12-13-2013 The rules work until you try and shoot through adamantine fullplate or super enchanted armor, my home brew systems takes into account hardness for that reason. Also, related to gunblades and fighters, is the fighter talent agility ment to apply to ranged attacks? As the prereq is weapon finesse is seems like a melee ability. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - Nihilarian - 12-14-2013 It wasn't intended that way, but I don't see that as being unbalanced. Seems reasonable to allow. RE: Gunblade Specialists & firearms - theholymoo - 12-14-2013 Eh, i dunno, Gunners don't even get the ability to do it until level 4, i guess its not a big deal, but i feel it could quickly make a gunner player a bit jealous that the fighter gets (in my opinion) a corner stone ability to the gunner and not only that but gets it sooner... but really i just don't like the gun rules so i don't want them to be more powerful for anyone, *shrug* not even the gunner i suppose. I really just dont like all they need is 1 stat to win Dex for attack, AC, and damage is to much, no need to mention reflex saves and skills i compared a pathfinder gunslinger to a pathfinder fighter over the course of 11 levels, and the gunslinger starts a little weaker early level but by level 4 is equal and by level 11 is in all ways better than the fighter, Attack bonus, Ac, Hit points were equal, damage output was higher, gunslingers abilities were better, just everything... im sorry this turned into an i hate gunslingers rant, I'll stop. For now =_= |
