How long after death does a pheonix down still work? 1 round? 1encounter? 1 day? years? Does there have to be a body? Can you use it offensively to destroy an undead?

Phoenix Down and other similar resurrection spells will work on any dead body as long as you have a piece of the body unless the body died of natural causes (age). And no, it doesn't affect the undead.
