Insert standard introduction sentence. You can call me Luph, or Jay, your choice.

I have some experience in D&D 3.5, and personally, I had been thinking of making a Final Fantasy D20 Variant, but thank the gods I found this first. I enjoy video games(obviously Tongue) and tennis. I don't watch too much TV but I do have netflix. If you have any questions then let em rip.

  Cure/Regen Materia in Weapon slots
Posted by: Rizaidym - 06-01-2014, 05:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

How do Cure/Regen Materia work in weapons? Do the weapons heal the user with every hit? Do the weapons themselves heal ala the Cure Staff in FFTA? Same deal with the Protect Materia, does it impose an attack penalty on enemies struck or just a blanket debuff to anyone who attacks you?

  handling a blue mage
Posted by: metalforce - 04-30-2014, 11:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

So this is coming from the DM, not the players side. I've got a blue mage in my group and he's rapidly becoming out of control. A first level (maybe 2nd) blue spell, marrow drain, allows my lvl 3 player to have unlimited mana, and just the fact that a blue mage is in my group makes creating encounters a pain! I had them fight a small dragon and suddenly the blue mage is summoning dragons as a limit break, and I'm pretty much not having any monsters cast spells to prevent further abuse. My black mage in the party is quickly being outshined and has half the spell selection, I know he's not happy about this. Can anyone make a suggestion on how to nerf a blue mage, or at least keep a handle on him? And that marrow drain should NOT be such a low level spell.

Tongue Hello forums
Posted by: XenZan - 03-30-2014, 05:34 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Greetings!

I want to preface this thread by saying that me and my gaming group greatly appreciate the extensive work put forth to create an maintain the FFd20 system and that we've been playing it off and on for a few years now to good effect.

That out of the way, I've somehow only just discovered these forums, so now in lieu of emailing Viladin with every question or clarification I have, I now have somewhere to put it. Will probably start my own thread/FAQ, haha.

I will also, assuming it is welcome, start a thread in the FF Adventures forum where I will catalogue my group's adventures in the FF world. We are playing through the older FF games' story lines with our own characters, so it's been great fun.

Anyway, thanks and nice to meet any/all of you.
~XenZan

I am not entirely sure how to actually add new posts beneath my existing posts. I seem only able to edit in new text to existing posts, haha. Any ideas?

Unless this works...?

  So much fun!
Posted by: metalforce - 02-10-2014, 02:37 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Well, this is not an informative post, merely a "thank you" to developers.
Our campaign has only been going on for a month or two, but im already loving the world and my character. I'm playing a moogle Chemist/Engineer and have to say that im never bored in game.. theres always so much to do!! And all the classes my fellow party members are playing seem wonderful (except beastmaster seems to do a lot more dmg than black mage, could be that we're low level or the players that made the characters, or both)

We're taking a more final fantasy approach as opposed to a pathfinder/3.5 view to our game, so a lot of house rules and homebrew to make it more of a classic final fantasy world. (for example, all spells require gestures because in the game your little mage avatars would raise they're hands when casting any spell) This has made it a lot of fun and also, if we're not sure how something works or just think it should work differently, we have good ole final fantasy game mechanics to study and decide how we shall play.

All in all a very wonderful idea, executed beautifully, and up here for all the world to use for free. Thank you all so very much for giving us this game! Now if only i could find an abandoned magitek armor somewhere....

  Advice and Questions
Posted by: Archmagel - 01-17-2014, 02:05 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello, first of all, I have to say that our group has used this d20 and we have loved it. This is really great work, thank you! My group and I have some questions, though.

1. If you are a Dark Knight or a Holy Knight, and your alignment shifts from Evil/Good or vice versa, do you lose your abilities like a Knight would? (We thought of how Cecil changed, but weren't sure when we saw that a Knight lost all of his abilities.)

2. I am the mage of the group, and I am not sure whether to use the spell list description of damage or healing, or the class spell list. (Ex: Healra or Cura).

3. We have been treating the bonus mp due to stats as accumulative and haven't really run into problems. The mages actually go oom halfway during the session, still (and that is conserving MP). I am still curious though, does it accumulate?

4. Advice: I love having Black and White magic, but I was tired of playing the usual White Mage/Black Mage/ Scholar, so I chose to play Sage (especially since I loved Tellah and always thought of being a Red Mage for black and white magic). The problem is I am not sure what to do after level 20 (epic campaign). Any advice?

  Magic points
Posted by: theholymoo - 12-15-2013, 06:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Are bonus magic points through ability modifiers cumulative by level or is the bonus replaced by the higher number once its reached?

sorry for the large volume of questions.
